The Comité des pêches 22 (Fisheries Committee) is requesting that the construction site be halted due to Voluntary spills of pollutants on the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm . This alert follows on from the successive spills of June 2021 and of July 2021 . The Comité des pêches 22 is asking that the construction site be monitored and supervised by an independent authority, as the current environmental coordinator is none other than the operator Ailes Marine/Iberdrola itself, which according to the terms of Art 15.4 of the prefectoral decree of 2017 must ensure the control of environmental measures. However, to date, the results of the analyses of the previous pollution have still not been transmitted.

The first wind turbine foundations from Spain are arriving in the area. In order to protect them from corrosion, sacrificial anodes will be installed. The Public enquiry states that - The maximum quantity of anodes on each foundation is estimated at 20 tonnes and that the mass of dissolved elements will be 57.6 tonnes per year, of which 54.7 tonnes will be aluminium - But according to the operator Ailes Marines - In view of the current speeds in the area, the dissolved aluminium will be rapidly diluted in the water column, and the aluminium load will not exceed the recommended thresholds.
